We take the protection of your personal data very seriously and treat your personal data confidentially and in accordance with the statutory data protection regulations and this data protection declaration.
Our website can usually be used without providing personal data. Insofar as personal data (e.g. name, address or email address) is collected on our website, this is always done on a voluntary basis as far as possible. These data will not be passed on to third parties without your express consent.
We would like to point out that data transmission over the Internet (e.g. when communicating by e-mail) can have security gaps. A complete protection of the data against access by third parties is not possible.
On our website we use the "Powermail" function of TYPO3 to provide forms for easy contact / data collection for our visitors. The data entered voluntarily in these forms are usually processed further by email to the responsible persons. The data will not be passed on to third parties under any circumstances without express prior consent. The form data is also temporarily stored in the database of our content management system in the event of a malfunction of the mail system and for any collected download that may be necessary and then deleted.
If you want the data entered to be deleted immediately, please send an email directly to the address given on our contact page.
Information, deletion, blocking
You have the right to free information about your stored personal data, their origin and recipient and the purpose of the data processing as well as the right to correct, block or delete this data at any time. External services (YouTube, TUPeerTube etc.)
Third-party services might also be integrated or linked on our website and provided by these third parties on their own responsibility. These external services are then linked from our website in such a way that no data is transferred to the external services when you use our website. A connection to the respective external service is only established when the link is actually clicked.

Web fonts (local embedding)
Our website uses web fonts provided by Google. These Google fonts are installed locally so that no connection is established to the Google servers and no information is transmitted to Google.
Indirect data collection (server logs)
If you use this website, the call will be recorded by the host of the website (TU Wien). This log contains your IP address, which identifies you indirectly via your internet provider. The recording of this data is mandatory by law and necessary for security. There is no option to opt out, but the data will never be used for any other purpose.
Matomo Web statistics
This website is using Matomo, an Open Source, self-hosted software for collecting anonymous usage statistics for this website.
Matomo was configured to anonymize your IP-address and does not use any tracking cookies. You can also opt-out of Matomo Web Analytics alltogether by unchecking the checkbox on the bottom of this page.
The data is used to analyse the behaviour of the website visitors to identify potential pitfalls like not found pages, search engine indexing issues and to find out which contents are the most appreciated. Once the data (number of visitors reaching a not found pages, viewing only one page…) is processed, Matomo is generating reports for website owners to take action, for example changing the layout of the pages, publishing some fresh content… etc.
Matomo is processing the following data:
Cookies for technical purposes (piwik_ignore, when you use the opt-out method, MATOMO_SESSID a temporary session cookie, _pk_testcookie to test the browser support for cookies)
Anonymized IP-address by removing the last 2 bytes (so 220.127.116.11 instead of 198.51.100.54)
Pseudo-anonymized Location of the user (generated from the anonymized IP-address)

Title of the page being viewed

URL of the page that was viewed prior to the current page (if the page allows it)
Time in local timezone
Files that were clicked and downloaded
